Hey!!! Finally a websight to honor SHEMP the man!! I am sure he is watching you both grinning saying "Way to go girls" I am a big stooges fan and I tape every episode that I don't have. He sounds like is was a loving and gentle man in real life and a clown as well. I would have loved to met him. Way to go 75 yrs of "stooges" lets make it another 75 yrs as well. I look forward to coming to this sight and learning more about my favorite guy!!! Keep it coming. I have cerbral palsy and my favorite pasttime is visiting this sight and getting a smile on my face when I have such a not so good day. I'm looking for a "Shemp" poster and a Shemp shirt in a size 2x or 3x so I can show "Shemp" off proudly to the whole world saying he's the best!! Keep it coming on the shemp company site.

A BELATED HAPPY 106TH BIRTHDAY, SHEMP! THE WORLD WILL MISS YOU, BUT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE YOUR MEMORY ON FILM---THOUGH IT DOESN'T DO YOU JUSTICE!! YOU WERE A VERY SPECIAL PERSON...NO MATTER HOW YOU FELT OR HOW BUSY YOU WERE, YOU ALWAYS FOUND TIME TO DO THINGS FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. WHEN YOUR BROTHER MOE WAS IN A PINCH AND NEEDED YOU TO RETURN TO THE ACT AFTER CURLY'S ILLNESS TOOK HIM OUT, YOU WERE WILLING TO DO IT. IN FACT, YOU ALWAYS DID WHAT OTHERS ASKED OF YOU. YOU WERE--AND ARE--A SELFLESS INDIVIDUAL. I KNOW BOTH HEAVEN AND EARTH ARE BETTER BECAUSE OF YOUR PRESENCE. ("WE AIN'T GOT NO PRESENTS! THE STORES WERE ALL CLOSED!") I HOPE TO TELL YOU THESE THINGS IN PERSON IF I GET THERE SOME DAY...YOU'RE A SWELL KID!!! HAP-HAP-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! LOVE, GRETCH SANDIE---I'M SENDING SOME LITTLE SHEMP B-DAY SURPRISES TO YOU AS SOON AS I CAN. SORRY I COULDN'T DO IT SOONER!!

A Poem in Honor of Shemp's Birthday, as composed by my sister: The Stooges were silly-- Some say they were dicks -- Today Shemp Howard would be 106! Y'know how on St. Patrick's Day everyone where's a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" button or something? Well, I wear my Shemp button in honor of his birthday. I lost it, though. So if anyone finds it, could you send it to me?

Hey Hey Kids - wanted to say that I really like the site! Shemp was one of the funniest comic actors ever. I once did a speech in a Toastmaster's class entitled "Shemp Howard - The Unwanted Stooge," and brought the house down. Also, I have about a dozen of his non-stooge shorts on videotape that I would be glad to copy for you if you want. Good luck with the site!! Regards, Sal C.

Dear Papa Shemp on your birthday today, March 17th (now 2001). I only wished you would of known me. I only wished I could of sat on your lap while you laughed in your "HA, HA, HA" and your "OH, OH, OH". I only wished I could of heard you do your Ebb-bbe-bee....in person. I only wished we could of done your shadow boxing together. Listen gramps! As I come to know myself clearer and clearer with age, I laugh at myself sometimes and say, "Boy, I"m just like him"... meaning you! I love to ad lib.... I stunk at trying to memorize lines in a play so heck, just filled in what I thought would be funny. I care to darn much what people think of me... just like you did. Someday I hope somewhere beyond those pearly gates we certainly meet face to face and I can tell you just how much you are still loved and admired by so many fans. A tribute to you Papa Shemp! Love, your granddaughter, Sandie

Hello Shemp Fans and Family, Just love the Shemp site. I sure wish that I could have met Shemp, Larry, Moe, and Curly. My husband and I both enjoy the Three Stooges because they were truly ahead of their time. They did not use the "canned" laughter in their shorts. You knew when to laugh, and believe me the Stooges made one laugh until their sides ached. Have a great birthday in Heaven Shemp. You and the boys are making God and the armies of Heaven laugh. Congrats on the lst year anniversary of this site. Nova Johnson Fort Worth,Tx (Slam Bang Theatre alumni)

Hi Sandi and Jill, What a great site and special tribute to your grandfather Shemp! Both my son and I enjoy watching Shemp's work with the Three Stooges on AMC each day. My father loved the Stooges and both my brother and I still enjoy them too. Your grandfather has made millions of people laugh throughout the years and will continue to do so in the future. There is no better gift a person can give to the world then making them laugh. What a legacy the Stooges have left for the world to enjoy! For me, it's hard to pick out one particularly funny Shemp scene that I like, there were so many. I think that when he danced around like a boxer showing off his fancy footwork and then got slugged every time is my favorite. Thanks from a family of Stooge lovers. Keep up the excellent work on your site! Best wishes, Mark Vignone

I am 23 years old, and just got into The Three Stooges may be a month ago. I just want to say that your grandfather was by far the funniest and most naturally gifted of all six of the Three Stooges. He has quickly become my favorite comic actor of all time. I just bought videos of Shemp shorts from before he rejoined the Stooges from Ebay, and I can't wait until they arrive! Dear Shempcompany: Thanks for the chance to express my appreciation of the talents of the late, great Shemp Howard. I've been watching the Stooges since I was a kid and for over 30 years I've been championing the qualities of the Shemp episodes. On my radio show, I call Shemp "the thinking man's stooge" because so many of the things that made Shemp the best were subtle. Best Shemp episode is "Brideless Groom", with "Squareheads of the Roundtable", "Who Done It," "Hot Scots" and a few others right up there too. Matter of fact, as I write my kids are watching the Shemp episode where the boys have to take out the suit of armour on AMC. It gives me great pleasure to read accounts by those who were involved with the Stooges who say Shemp was the funniest of the bunch in person. Long live the memory of Shemp Howard, "the thinking man's Stooge."

Were just seeing a fine family traditon carries on. Both my wife & I visted some years back on our extraordinary ROUTE 66 [just after it was delisted in 76']. ...With wonderful research that began with Steinbecks' Grapes O'Wrath, ...and went forward from there...we traversed your golden land. I believe my grandfather was a terrific friend of mine. Sadly dementure severely limited his recollections... WE WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENNING WITH THE WONDERFUL SHREMP FAMILY....IS THERE A BOOK?? AN EMAIL TYPE DOCUMENT? WOULD MUCH APPRECIATE IF YOU'D LET US KNOW. GOD BLESS ALL YOUR GREATER FAMILY, VERY BEST WISHES, The Spadgers.

We can't forget that Shemp was the original 3rd stooge when the team first started with Ted Healy! I love both Shemp and Curly but Shemp was not only successful as a stooge, but was successful as a single comidian. Long live the stooges!!

"Three Blind Mice" plays and the words "The Three Stooges (Shemp, Larry, Moe) in..." appear on the TV screen. The room is full of laughter from the first poke in the eyes to the last slap in the face! Sure, we all know and love Larry, Curly, and Moe, but personally, my favorite of the stooges was the comic genius known as Shemp. Whether he was playing with words, trying to steal something, or just making a funny noise, Shemp can always bring a smile to my face. I was delighted to find this great site, dedicated to the one and only Shemp Howard, because a lot of other sites only contain things about the Curly films. Some of my favorite Shemp films are Fright Night, The Hot Scots, Tricky Dicks, Goof on the Roof, and Brideless Groom. Some of my favorite scenes with Shemp are Christine McIntyre slapping Shemp silly (Brideless Groom), Shemp trying to retrieve his beautiful Cracker Jack ring from inside of a TV set (Goof on the Roof), and any scene that involves him snoring and making his "Heeb eeb eeb!" noise. I'm currently making a page dedicated to Shemp (which will have the web address http://www.geocities.com/meaniespunitkzinoff/shemp.html). I would like to ask for permission to use a few images from www.shempcompany.com before I continue to work on the page. Thanks for your time. Well, in closing I'd like to say I hope to see more updates to the site soon, so we can all remember Shemp and share a few laughs. :)

Outstanding site, Sandie & Jill. Anyone who can make as many people laugh as Shemp has (and always will) will never be forgotten. And there are few in the business who have ever been as consistently enjoyable as Shemp. Thanks for a site where we can learn more about his personal life and family.

Hi, again, Jill and Sandie! I've been watching AMC's NYUK University's Stooges and I've got a question that comes up quite often in our newsgroup: Why aren't ALL the shorts shown? There are many of Shemp's that I've never seen yet....did C3 sell a "package deal" to the networks and will all of them ever be shown or released on video? Thanks in advance and what is this that is coming in December???!!!

I heard about this site in the Emil Sitka Fan Club newsletter and I have to say it's pretty darn nifty. Shemp was a great guy. He'd give you the shirt of his back.Yeah. And throw in the buttons, too. But of course you know that. I think my favorite non-Stooge role of Shemps was as the barkeep of the Black Pussycat Cafe in "The Bank Dick." Ever do any boondogling?

Great site! I've always loved Shemp equally with Curly, and some of my favorite Stooge shorts are Shemp ones. I invite everyone to visit my own new website (and I mean NEW) dedicated to (frequent Shemp leading lady) Christine McIntyre. I invite anyone, particularly the granddaughters of Shemp who have posted here, to get in touch with me about possible biographical info on the late Ms. McIntyre. As you will see, I've posted what I've been able to dig up so far, and still have yet to hear from a couple libraries and newspapers -- but it's slow going: http://members.tripod.com/taillefer/ChristineMcIntyre/ [LONG LIVE SAMUEL HORWITZ!)

Good evening! I am very pleased that the memory of the Three Stooges, together and individually, has been kept alive for so many years. I can say that all of the Stooges have touched me over the many years that I have been watching them. They are all unique and special. What can be said about Shemp? He was an absolutely wonderful part of the trio, and made me smile & laugh as much as the others. You have created a wonderful sight dedicated to Shemp and I hope it keeps his memory alive for many years to come!

I Just wanted to say that the best of the Stooge films had Shemp in it. I did not know of this site until I accidently found it, and wish the offical Stooge web site would list most of the other Three Stooge sites. I have learned a great lot about the stooges from this site and many many more just like this. I just wish that you could offer a short film or two so other people can see how Shemp added to the Stooges. Joe And Curly Joe just did not have that REAL STOOGE QUALITY. I wish in the near future also there would be a place to watch ALL STOOGE FILMS. Thanks.

Finally, a well-crafted tribute to the greatest comedian of all time (with Curly). My co-workers and I recite Shemp lines all day long at work, just to make the time pass more quickly. The first time I saw Shemp featured with Moe & Larry, I was skeptical, but 20 minutes later, I was relieved and astonished that another person could fill in for Curly so well. Keep up the good work.

I love Shemp now and when I was a kid. Do you know how truly hard it is to make people laugh? Well Shemp did just that. He not only made us laugh, but he had such a wonderful smile, that you knew he was enjoying himself doing it. In the scene where he is the dentist (after a week in dentist school) is hilarious! In my opinon, he is second to none! Some people are great comedians, but its only a job to them. I know in my heart that Shemp not only was one of the greatest comedians of the 20th century, but also one of the warmest people as well. Not even the greatest actors can fool the public with being phony. Shemp was a true gentlemen, and will be loved in the 21st century as well!

I just wanted to place a post tonight in regards to my cyber friends who are some of the nicest people. I happened to visit another sight where someone placed a posting that Shemp sucks ! That really upset me that someone could make such cruel statments on another individual that they have no idea who the man was. It actually hurt me personally. I read the postings every evening in this sight and its an "honor" to see the ones who have returned time after time to visit and always have such kind words to say in this sight and pay homage to our grandfather Shemp. This is really thoughtful, i'm so touched by it. I just needed to express that you you and you know who you are..... Thank you. I have a smile on my heart! Love, Sandie

I love shemp as much as curly.my favorite short w/ shemp is the one that was filmed in 3-d. The scene where shemp starts yelling that he saw the ugliest bat, only to reveal in a close-up that the bat has the head of shemp,is one of my favorite of all time. Gator......

The Three Stooges were great as a team. Curly was innocent, childlike, silly (but never stupid!) Shemp acted tough, but he was so lovable you knew he could never hurt a fly. (He was like a favorite uncle). Larry - was a great talent. He was underestimated and should have been given more lines. I feel he was like the great Bud Abbott. Moe - whose character I could never stand as a child (I felt he was so mean), is the reason why there was a Three Stooges. He was a brilliant man. And lets not forget the wonderful supporting actors, such as Vernon Dent, and the beautiful Christine McIntyre, and the others. And last but not least, to the sound people. They can compete with all the technology of today. No where in any film is the sound better when someone gets conked on the head! I think the sound people deserved to be nominated, because they are a big part of the Stooges' success. I always liked the Stooges, but I appreciate them much more now than when I was young!

How can anyone call Shemp the "Forgotten Stooge"??? He has always been one of my favorites.....to prove that love for Shemp knows no boundaries, I have a little boy with Down Syndrome who ADORES his "Shempie" and squeals with delight when the opening credits come on and he sees Shemp's mug looking out from the TV screen! His favorite one is "The Goon" (Who Done it?) and he will rewind the part where they are all running through the hallway shouting to each other that the Goon is coming! When I am stressed or depressed, one episode of the boys is enough to shake me out of whatever mood I'm in......forget about apples....just watch the Stooges every day to keep the doctor away. God Bless Jill and Sandi for creating this wonderful website..... Laura (who's also ticked off at what Comedy 3 is trying to do!)

Dear Fellow Shemp Fans, Few people who have ever walked this earth have been as talented as those guys, augmented by Shemp's inimitable footwork, vocal sounds and physical grace. Some of their best moments were dependent on his personality and antics. He always impressed me somehow as being a very emotional, introverted person and reminds me of my late uncle who was also comedic in a very physical way. By the way, I never found him all that unattractive-I have seen some close-up photos which were quite flattering, in fact. I am very proud and honored to able to send this message to a website created by his very own family members. Your illustrious grandfather has brought me so much joy!! Thank you ...and him!!

Thanks for welcoming to this site. I am so glad to find something like this! I have been a Stooge fan most of my life, and Shemp in particular. I only wish I could have met him. This is such an interesting web site. I must admit, I never liked "The Three Stooges" when I was growing up. My husband, however, has always been a fan. He got me to watch the shorts with him, and now I am hooked! Who says the "Stooges" only appeal to men? Anyway, Shemp is my favorite Stooge, though I enjoy them all! There seems to be a real humanity about him, even when he is doing silly stuff. Keep up the great work on this site! Thanks for your effort!

Hi Sandie and Jill! Thanks for allowing us to take a brief trip back in time with Papa Shemp. I've always wondered what it would have been like to know the boys. I feel so much like I do just from watching and loving them all my life. Almost everything that's happened in my life, I can relate in one way or another to some line or some scene from the Stooges. I'm anxious to know more about Babe's diary, and what their life was like... Did they percieve themselves as working stiffs? Hollywood stars? Were they considered peers of other comedians like Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Bros or just sluffed off as lowbrow, or beneath the intellectuals... The more I learn, the more I want to know. What is it about these guys? And just a note from reading the guestbook... Loving Shemp has nothing to do with Curly. There's no need to insult, or take away from one for liking the other. They were both incredible, just like Larry and Moe. I can proudly say the Three Stooges have had a profound impact on my life. And I'm proud to say my five year old son and I watch together, and laugh our heads off every week. What a gift they've given us! Thanks for your part in keeping them alive.

Shemp is my ALL TIME favorite Stooge... what a genius! I talked with Mousie at the 1994 Trevose, PA gathering and he told me some interesting things about Shemp. Curly was great, but Shemp was the ultimate ad-libber! So sad for comedy when he passed!

Until now, I thought I was one of the few who recognized Shemp as the funniest Stooge and a great comic actor. To those who have considered him the unequal to Curly, I have always responded, "Curly is funny in a manic-one dimensional way but Shemp was a three dimensional comic character who had a wonderful range of personality and comic ability." It's ashame that the Stooges never made full length films because Shemp's comic character was built to carry a full length feature. Curly was fine for the shorts but his lack of depth couldn't carry a film. He's more like a Lenny & Squiggy from Laverne & Shirley or a Kramer from Seinfeld. He's funny in doses but in a prolonged situation, it would have been too much. To this day day, when times get tough, I reach for the volumes of Shemp-Three Stooges shorts to keep me laughing. There is so much Three Stooges stuff, e.g., pictures, dolls, figures, etc. with Curly but nothing with Shemp. Let me know if there are plans to generate some Shemp merchandise. I'd buy it in a heart beat. Also, it would be great to see a solid biography about Shemp on the bookstands.

Shemp was my favorite from the first. All my friends liked Curly but Shemp was the funniest Stooge, period. I always thought Curly was great, too, but mostly for younger viewers. Shemp was the original 3rd Stooge and I also love his solo work in his shorts with Vitaphone and Columbia and his comic roles in Pittsburgh(J. Wayne), Blondie Knows Best, The Bank Dick(WC Fields), and Abbott & Costello films.

In my opinion, the shorts made in the early 40's and 50's were superior to the ones made in the early 1930's. The earlier films were basically just hitting, but the ones in the 40's and 50's were hysterical. Your grandfather was my favorite stooge. My favorite shorts are "Gypped in the Penthouse, "Snitch in Time, and Brideless Groom. Shemp is the reason I became a stooge fan.

this is my first time in this site and its terrific! Keep up the good work, Jill & Sandie...Shemp Howard was a consummate comic actor with a gift for adlibbing...I just saw "Hellzapoppin'" for the first time a coupla weeks ago, and he and Martha Raye from the so-called stars, Olsen & Johnson...Also recently saw "Soup to Nuts" for the first time; like many early talkies,it was paced like molasses and spent too much time with the "romantic" leads, but as a historic document, it's priceless...i recommed it to everyone who wants a taste of Ted Healy and his Racketeers (Shemp, Moe, Larry and some God-awful ringer named Fred Sanborn. I shall return.

When I was a kid,a lot of my friends would be disappointed when they showed a Shemp short instead of Curly. I said the same thing to them thirty-five years ago as I say now, they just did'nt appreciate Shemp..He was, and always will be MY favorite stooge!! No disrespect to kid brother Curly, but it's like comparing apples and oranges. Curly was great with his expressions and sound effects, but in my opinion, Shemp had such great delivery, and had such true comedic talent..and HIS expressions were also unforgettable!! I'm so glad I finally got the chance to tell someone in his immediate family what a great, underrated comic genius he was..and still is to me! Well, gotta go..I'm busy now inventing a fountain pen that writes under whipped cream!! Say Hello to UNCLE MORTIMER!! Yours Truly, John (a.k.a. SHEMP) Z.

It is only left for one to imagine what the world could possibly be like with out one of the greatest men to come forth and step into the vast ocean of life, that's right I speak of our most truely beloved entertainer, Shemp. In actuallity, I can't say this, for he was more than merely an "entertainer," he was an inspiration. The utmost love and passion, not only for his work, but also for people is a true inspiration to all mankind. Although some may call him a coward, or an imitation, they need only look as far as there young children, who look past his phobias and find the true man. I can say no more today than, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Shemp, you were an inspiration, and a father to me, God bless you as you continue to bring joy not only on earth but also in heavan, you are NOT the forgotten Stooge, you are a hero. Without your constant smile on the screen, despite what your brother may be doing to you, I may not have made it through my own tough times, thank you and God bless. -William McLean

A truly neat site, which will hopefully preserve and enhance Shemp's comic genius. I am grateful to browse through this shrine, and the opportunity to post this note. His performance in shorts such as "Brideless Groom" are as funny as any comedian who ever lived. Shemp has taught me that it is OK to be a kid at heart in my middle age.

Shemp Howard... what a gifted man. He so deserves recognition and respect. I am glad that this web site has given us all a chance to say how very much we love him. We all have grown up watching his performances and even through thousands of viewings, we find ourselves collapsed with laughter every time. The older we get the more diverse our tastes become, but nothing can change the love that we have for Shemp. To me, Shemp is someone who has helped to remind me to find joy in the simple things in life. Who else could ever make even the smallest task of ironing a pair of pants so hysterical? Thank you Sandie and Jill and family for giving us the opportunity to share in the love that you have and the pride that you feel for your Grandfather. His life was a gift to every one of us. For this we are truly grateful. May each of us hold a bit of Shemp in our hearts.

This site is great, by the way. The pictures are cool, and it was so interesting to read the articles about Shemp. But I have one question. I am trying to paint portraits of all the stooges, but I have never seen Shemp in color. Could you tell me what color his hair and eyes were? It sure would help. Thanks!

Thank You to his Granddaughters for the Site and Up comming book they are comming out with they are the nicest Grandkids of a Famous Parent I have seen. It is a nice change. and Love You Shemp. Shemp is my favorite Shemp and probably the most misunderstood and underrate of the Stooges! While Curly remains popular, a new breed of fans are appreciating Shemp...myself included....as we get older! Shemp's brand of humor goes over most kids' heads and mine too.....but not now! I thought he had perfect timing and was a comic genius! I can also relate to the many "phobias" Shemp had.....I have em too! But I think the movie kinda overexaggerated that and I don't think they needed to put that in the movie! Another Stooge fan/buddy of mine, sent me a link to this site...I didn't even know it existed! Boy, am I glad he did! Hats off to Sandi and Jill for making a wonderful tribute to "Papa Shemp!" Shemp Rules!

This is a great site! Thanks for sharing the photos and information. I am one that realizes the genius it must have taken to produce what I believe the finest in comic acts. No one could ever surpass what these men did and what they contributed to film and television. I regret that they might not have ever known how popular they are to this day and will be from now on. I am also sad with the fact that they did not realize the finacial success that was certainly due them. I will always enjoy seeing The Stooges no matter how many times I see a short it still gets belly laughs from me and makes a day go better. There are few television and movies that I quote during the day while working or something but the Stooges is at the top of the list. My favorite Shemp line is from one I dont recall the title to but it goes something like this: "Gee Moe,Im sorry Moe,what Moe can I say, thats all there is there aint no Moe!" Again Thanks!

Gosh, I'm so glad I found your website today! I consider myself one of the original, true Shemp lovers from childhood. I loved Curly, but Shemp just flat-out always cracked me up. About 6 months ago, I started my own Shemp website called Wall of Shemp (http://wallofshemp.freeservers.com)and have been trying to make it a truly loving tribute. I thought the world needed a web site that is dedicated, 100% to Shemp, and for a while I thought I was alone. But finding your site is a dream come true for me, and for Shemp fans the world over. You are presenting Shemp photos and facts that are PRICELESS! I will continue to visit your site everyday, and I hope that you might visit my site, and possibly give it your blessing. Shemp has always been my favorite! I am a radio personality and broadcaster that has always been a huge fan of your grandfather! I'm very happy that you have put this site up, and would be interested in communicating with your family as well. I think shemp was one of the great comic actors, and will sit through feature films of B quality just to see shemp in a supporting role. You should consider having your family put together a book, as there is no book i've ever seen that gives much more than a professional history. I'd love to hear the rest of the story, and get a better feel for the life of one of my true heros. I've interviewed many stars over the years, including george burns and others, but am too young to have been around during your dads day. I'm sure that many would be interested in the family's account of his life. By the way, I felt the tv movie didn't do shemp justice at all! You can reach me at sgfiles@aol.com Regards, Steve Garland

Jill and Sandy have put together here the best pages on the Stooges I have seen. I love the Stooges, Marx Brothers, Charlie Chaplin and all the classic comedies of the 20's-40's and I wonder how come nobody else knows how to make a good web page for these..like Jill & Sandy have done. I look at these others attempts of a web page for the Stooges or other classic comedy teams and it is like you click on to their site and and you see is a picture..and nothing else! I wish more web pages would be as well put together as this one is!

Hi, Jill and Sandie, Well, I finally got around to signing your guestbook. LOL This is such a wonderful site! Now that I know about the REAL Shemp Howard, I feel pretty sure that he would be so touched by this site if he could see it. Although, somehow, I get the feeling he can see it. You know, here lately, I've been having dreams about the Stooges; Shemp and Larry in particular. Last night, I dreamt that they came to my high school graduation ceremony. I don't know why I dreamed that now. I don't graduate until Thurs. I thank God everyday for the laughter and joy your grandpa gave me along with the other stooges. I am so priviliged to know the granddaughters of such a wonderful man! Now, all we need is someone to make a website for Curly and Larry (maybe even Joe Besser and DeRita) and I would be the happiest girl on the planet! I pray God's blessings on this page and on your family for generations to come. A life-long Shemp fan from now on and your friend for all eternity, Sheila Burns P.S. Oh, I love the pictures! I'm still trying to listen to the files on the main page, but, I guess my computer is so slow that it doesn't want to wait to load it.

Wrote you earlier, in regards to the movie, and I thank you for your reply. You know, a great many folks would not have replied with anything more than a curt "thanks" (some not even that little) but it appears that you've inherited your grandfather's legendary regard for others and gentleman-like behavior (if I might apply that to two women...) Anyway, I just wanted to make public my appreciation for your grandfather's tremedously funny work, and for the heartfelt work you've done on this site. Thank you, and God bless you.

Well, it's true -- I'm ANOTHER woman in love with the Stooges!! (That makes, what, THREE OF US NOW??) Just kidding! As you can see from this wonderful site, we are popping up everywhere and confessing our passion for The Boys! And as for Shemp ... do I love him? Why, soitenly, nyuk nyuk nyuk! (sorry for that Curly reference... but I'm sure you guys don't mind...) As a matter, I confess that I have always had a bit of a crush on Shemp! I thought he was kinda cute and charming... (must have been that greasy hair look that got to me!) Thanks so much for this great site! It has already brought many smiles to my face. (P.S. My husband even taught me the difference in the particular 'sounds' of Curly and Shemp. Curly did this kind of 'whoop, whoop, whoop!!' thing ... and Shemp was more of a 'Eeee bbbb, eeeee bbbb!!' (Hey... it's an ART to this thing) Have a good day! Pat (Chicago's biggest female Stooge fan) Batson.

Lifetime fan of the Stooges and always considered Shemp the most underrated Stooge. Shemp was a brilliant slapstick comedian and did a respectable job in the almost impossible task of replacing Curly. The Stooge shorts featuring Shemp have brought me much enjoyment and laughter over the years.

Hi Jill! Hi Sandie! I'm Diego from Argentina. Let me to state that your recent Web Site about Shemp is exceptional! I liked very much the rare photos, but with no doubt the most amazing it's the one in which Shemp holds a broom and appears with a long white beard! Also I found it very attractive the biography and the news clippings. I think that indeed Shemp (like Curly) give to the 3rd. stooge the personality, grace and comedy timing required. I want to congratulate to Jill and Sandie for the sensitive homage to her grandfather. Thank you, girls. God bless you Shemp, anywhere you stay, and thank you very much for your wonderful humor. Fondly, Your friend, Diego.

Would that we should all have such a legacy. Be we famous or no. That we would have touched someone's life so deeply that would cause them to offer a hmoage such as this site. Girls, I'm sure that Granpap Shemp smiles down on you both daily from a very special place near the throne of God. And if you listen closely, I'm sure you'll hear the laughter of angels and the faint report of "Mememememememe". A great site dedicted to a great man. Shalom. BIG SMILE !! Don

Shemp was the first third stooge I ever saw at the old Lowes Theater in N.Y.C. before they came to TV on WPIX and he is still my favorite. He deserves this site. Thank You

I'm sure I speak for lots of Shemp fans when I say that we owe you a debt of gratitude for this site. Shemp tends to be the "forgotten" Stooge, and it's a shame. I hope you will be able to bring out your grandmother's diary; it's not easy to edit a book (I've worked as a technical writer, so I know), but it is sure to be a valuable record for all Stooge fans and especially for all Shemp fans. Good luck!
Josh

Hello Sandie and Jill, first let me say if grandfather Shemp is looking down he will be very proud of the beautiful job the two of you did making this web site, what a tribute to a great man. It's my first time here and let me say you both did a fantastic job, I have now book marked it and will be a regular visiter from now on. I am a great fan of your grandfather, I believe he is the funniest man I have ever seen, what a wonderful man. The Shemp Howards of this world come by once every hundred years, and it's through men such as he that make this earth a beautiful place to live. The memmories and laughs he gave us back then still cure the pains of today, for laughter is the best medicine, and Shemp he's the best doctor. Five years ago I went into hospital for a minor hernia operation, when I came out I went into a small room where you could watch different movies to get you up and about. I turned on the TV and what was on but the Stooges in Fright Night, how I love that short, well your Grandfather made me laugh so much that all the pain in my side vanished, what a wonderful thing. My best friend Edward Bernds directed that short and we discussed it's making for several minutes, he loved Shemp. He said I quote "Dear Shemp he was affraid of everything including his own shadow, he looked over his shoulder at the slightest noise. We had a hard time getting Shemp just to stand on a chair. One day during the filming a stagehand dropped a prop light behind Shemp, he jumped so high he twisted an ankle. The stagehand proceeded to apologize: Shemp then replied, "In the future kid, you always stand in front of me OK!" That above quote was from a story I wrote on Ed Bernds. Again he admired Shemp and said he was naturally funny he didn't have to try to be. He also said Shemp was so full of live and enthusiasm always ready to go and always ready to help. Sandie you and your sister once again have done a beautiful job on this web site, I'm sure Shemp and Babe are smiling right now. They are as lucky to have you as you are to have them, and your all blessed to be part of the greatest comedy family of all time the Howards. I wish you both all the best I am now a fan of you both, I'm glad I found this beautiful web site, all the best in life and health to everyone in your families. Aubrey Menezes

It's really nice to have a Shemp website, he is often overlooked for his comic genius. He had a style all his own and was very inventive in ad-libbing Stooges comedy. He was one of the original 3 Stooges because of the Film "Soup to Nuts" as I was proud to help preserve. Jim Shemansky
